7:15 AM May 25th , 2008/ Eric and Matthew set out on a practice ride of a few hundred miles with one major destination being Mt Mitchell the highest point in North Carolina. I took off about an hour or so after they left with plans to meet them near Livingston, Ky. When I caught up they were on a 15mph pace and very near Livingston. After that I drove to the Rockcastle River at mile 30 and waved goodbye while making a movie. See the web album.
At about 5:00 Matthew called for advice about getting through the Cumberland Gap tunnel. With a phone call we determined they could put their bikes in a pick up truck and be ferried through by tunnel authorities.
